Are you longing to get out and do something? The Harptrees History Society has planned a new programme of speakers for the 2021- 2022 season in the newly refurbished West Harptree hall.
On Wednesday September 29th Prof Richard Coates, a linguist from the University of the West England, will give a presentation on “The Somerset Dialect”. He admits to not actually being a native speaker, but is deeply interested in local history and there will be time to discuss any changes or words and phrases that have been noticed by the audience.
In order to keep people safe, places for the talk will need to be booked. Chairs will be socially distanced and numbers restricted so that everyone will feel comfortable. If you are a member, there will be no queuing and you will not even have to bring any cash, as membership now includes admission to all meetings (space permitting). Visitors are welcome at £3 a head.
