Climate and Nature Emergency Working Group
This working group is tasked by the parish council with protecting the community against the harmful impacts of the changing climate, like heat waves and flooding, as well as investigating how it could adapt to take advantage of new opportunities, such as cleaner, cheaper energy, new jobs, improved home insulation and health and environmental benefits of new nature networks.
Small Steps and Big Steps
The group reported its initial findings to the council in July, identifying actions and ideas to take forward over the coming months. Some involve small practical steps that anyone can take at home. Other ideas, like providing reliable community transport, making it easier for people to walk and cycle safely around the Chew Valley, and improving home insulation across the parish, will need more thought and effort.
Could You Help?
We’re looking for support to help make some of these positive ideas happen for the community over the next few months. Please get in touch if you are interested in, or have experience in energy, transport, food, nature, waste, and recycling. You don’t need to be an expert but able to lend four hours per month of your time and energy until the end of 2020. Together we can really get things done.
If you could lend your support to this group, please contact the page administrator at the base of the page.
