History of the Brass Industry in the Avon Valley
The Harptrees History Society is delighted to welcome Tony Coverdale, from the Saltford Brass Mill Project, to its meeting on Wednesday 24th November. 7.30pm at West Harptree Memorial Hall.
Saltford Brass Mill is a scheduled monument, which is being preserved and maintained for the public benefit. Tony has a wealth of knowledge to share.
His talk covers the brass industry in the area from 1740, up to its heyday, when there were around thirteen mills in the valley, and to the closure of the last mill in 1925. He will explain the technological advances made during this time and the type of goods produced, also exploring the reasons for the decline of the industry.
Chairs will be socially distanced, so that everyone will feel comfortable and to ensure the safety of all attending. We are asking people to wear masks unless seated, if they are able.
Numbers are limited, so both members and visitors need to reserve a seat in advance. To book the available places, please email info@harptreeshistorysociety.org. You will receive an email confirmation.
There is no charge for members and visitors are very welcome at £3 a head.
